How to Create a Theme
How To Create a Theme
No. 1 - Write Down Your Ideas
Find all your favorite ideas, whether it be dusty blue bridesmaid dresses, sage green centerpieces, or a winter wedding by a fireplace, and just put them on paper. Even if the ideas don’t match, just find everything you love and get out in the world.
No. 2 - Narrow the Ideas Down
There will be some limitations to what you can do. If you already know you’re getting married in June, you can easily nix the winter wedding with a fireplace and the ideas that accompany it. Think about the goal or the vibe of the wedding. What do you want? Do you want an elegant, sit-down dinner? Then the barefoot, sage green ideas in the mountains aren’t your cup of tea.
No. 3 - Pick Key Elements
Think about the vibe you’re going for, and go after it. The most cohesive weddings are the ones that say no to most things. It is perfectly acceptable to say “I like this idea, but it won’t work with what I have in mind.” If you’re having a backyard bash then do the backyard bash without trying to incorporate fancy or uptown elements. Embrace the one or two key elements of your theme and stick to those.
